The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Manager, Custodial Operational Performance to provide a critical role within Custodial Operations.
About the Business Unit
The Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group, comprising Corrections Victoria, Justice Health and Justice Services, plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.
Corrections Victoria is responsible for the implementation of policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate individuals by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
About the Role
The Manager, Custodial Operational Performance provides high level advice and support to the Assistant Commissioners, Custodial Operations, the position is part of Custodial Operations which is a fast-paced dynamic work environment that responds to the needs of the system. The Manager undertakes and coordinates a variety of tasks to support public prisons, including analysis and activities to improve their performance, monitoring and reporting on service delivery outcomes, complex project work and other key indicators and contributing overall change management and reform pieces. The role works closely with prison General Managers and Performance and Planning Managers.
The location of this position is flexible and is based on the portfolio of prisons and project requirements, travel to various prisons and statewide services locations is required. Currently the portfolio for this position includes the Women's Prisons and Loddon Mallee Region however is subject to change based on projects and demand.
As the Manager, Custodial Operational Performance, some of your duties will include:
- Analysing, monitoring and developing reports on the performance of custodial facilities including developing and evaluating improvement plans and strategies to address performance concerns where needed.
- Analysing and developing responses to reports and develop recommendations for the management of relevant issues for the Assistant Commissioners.
- Supporting the Assistant Commissioners to effectively manage information exchanges and ensure effective communications across the stakeholder group.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in analysing and reporting on performance in an operational service delivery context; experience in managing complex projects or tasks; and development and delivery of procedure, policy and/or initiatives to manage risk.
- Experience providing high level advice and support, both verbal and in writing, to the Assistant Commissioners and key stakeholders.
