About this role
The First Nations Water Branch of DEECA's Water and Catchments Group is currently recruiting a Project Support Officer to the Aboriginal Water Program. The Project Support Officer will undertake administrative tasks to support the First Nations Water Branch in the delivery of the Aboriginal Water Program, which works to better include Aboriginal people in the way water is managed in Victoria and to reconnect communities to water for cultural, economic, customary and spiritual purposes. The position will also assist with the coordination of the quarterly Aboriginal Water Officer Network meetings and provide administrative support to the Network.
This role is classified as a Designated Aboriginal Position. A designated position is only available to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. It is an affirmative or special measure under section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act to support redressing disadvantage of certain groups or individuals.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- A knowledge and understanding of the contemporary issues and historical impacts affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Proven ability to engage with Aboriginal communities effectively and sensitively
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
