About this role
The Senior Manager – Water Recovery Initiatives will oversee the implementation of the Broken Reconfiguration Project and deliver opportunities as identified in the Victorian Government Planning Our Basin Future Together (POBFT) prospectus.
The Broken Reconfiguration Project is funded by the Commonwealth Government's Resilient Rivers Water Infrastructure Program with further projects identified in Victoria's POBFT prospectus currently under Commonwealth consideration.
The Senior Manager will lead the state level delivery and coordination of the Broken Reconfiguration Project and the POBFT program.
A key accountability of the Senior Manager is responsibility for activities relating to the smooth delivery of investigations under the Program including ensuring all contractual obligations between the Australian Government, Victorian Government and delivery partners are delivered on time and within budget. The Senior Manager will lead a small dynamic team and oversight delivery partners including reporting on project progress and milestones.
The Senior Manager will be additionally responsible for implementing and supporting the governance structure for the program, including any relevant project control groups and committees. Overseeing stakeholder relationships with both the Commonwealth government and delivery partners as well as broader government agencies and industry groups will be a key component of the role and requires previous experience in project coordination and delivery within defined timelines.
The role requires a thorough understanding of the policy and political context of the Murray Darling Basin Plan and the ability to critical analyse interdependencies to ensure that projects progress smoothly within an ever-changing policy landscape.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- An appropriate qualification in business, project management or management or approved equivalent would be desirable.
- Understanding of water industry beneficial but not mandatory
- Strong negotiation skills to support negotiations with stakeholders to manage project delivery within time and budget.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
This is a fixed term position available for a period of 2 Years. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
