About this role
The role of Manager Basin Salinity Management leads a team of four people to deliver on Victoria's salinity management obligations and further the implementation of the Victorian Irrigation Drainage Program.
We are seeking someone able to:
- work collaboratively with a diverse range of project partners and stakeholders including rural water corporations, catchment management authorities, other jurisdictions and stakeholder groups.
- actively contribute to long-term policy thinking and design at regional, statewide and interjurisdictional levels
- lead a small, dynamic team; and
- support the implementation of Victoria's policies and programs to improve regional environmental, catchment and rural outcomes.
Priorities for this role will be representing Victoria in the strategic review of the Basin Salinity Management 2030, establishing future direction for the Victorian Irrigation Drainage Program and leading a network of program partners to ensure salinity and irrigation drainage are effectively as part of the Sustainable Irrigation Program.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Significant experience in the natural resource sector; including land management issues (e.g. salinity, water logging, water quality, water use efficiency, water trade, landholder practice change, etc.), stakeholder negotiation, and policy implementation.
- A tertiary qualification in science, engineering, natural resource management, policy or related field is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with hydrology and/or hydrogeology is desirable.
This is a fixed term position available for a period of 12 Months. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria owith hybrid work arrangements available.
