About Us
Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the 'Courts Group'.

The Supreme Court of Victoria is the highest court in Victoria and comprises the Court of Appeal and the Trial Division. The Court deals with major criminal and civil matters, plus appeals against decisions of lower courts.

About the role
A rare opportunity has arisen to work as a secretary at the Supreme Court of Victoria, working across all divisions of the Court (Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, Commercial Division, and Common Law Division) to commence in July 2025. You will be required to provide a high level of confidential secretarial support to the Judges of the Supreme Court.
The main component of this role is typing of judgments, some correspondence and memoranda, reading through judgments for consistency and compliance with inhouse style guides, templates and the Australian Guide to Legal Citation, liaising with the Law Library of Victoria in relation to the publication of judgments, filing and organising some travel arrangements.
The role requires a high degree of sensitivity and professionalism as you will be working closely with judicial officers and court staff.
About you
To be successful in this role, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:
- experience in providing effective and efficient secretarial support in a fast-paced legal environment
- prioritisation and time-management skills
- high-level Word skills
- a minimum typing speed of 90 wpm
- attention to detail and accuracy
- the ability to demonstrate professionalism, tact and discretion
- initiative to work autonomously but also be a team player as you will become an integral part of a small but high-performing team of secretaries, delivering excellent customer service to Judicial Officers across the Court.
