Job Description
An exciting opportunity exists for a high performing Senior Policy Officer in the Priority Communities team, Multicultural Affairs Policy unit within the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The Senior Policy Officer will provide high quality policy advice and program delivery to enable effective outcomes for newly arrived and priority multicultural communities.
The Senior Policy Officer role will also contribute to engagement with the Commonwealth Government on settlement policies and support the delivery of other key Victorian Government priorities such as the Victorian African Communities Action Plan and relevant election commitments. This includes engagement with the Victorian Multicultural Commission, multicultural and settlement sector peak bodies, community organisations and intergovernmental representatives.
The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional policy, analytical, problem-solving, program management and stakeholder engagement skills.

About you
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
- Demonstrated policy skills and sound knowledge and understanding of Victorian government policies and processes relating to corporate governance and administration together with strong analytical and conceptual skills.
- Strong project management skills including the ability to produce detailed project plans where objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified.
- Excellent written communication skills and ability to communicate complex policy issues verbally and through written briefs, letters, emails and reports.
- Highly developed interpersonal and stakeholder management skills including ability to establish and actively manage effective internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and propose workable solutions to problems, implement solutions and evaluate effectiveness and adjust actions as required.
- Proven ability to cooperate and work well with others in pursuit of team goals and collaborate, share information and work well with the different working styles of others.
