About the Department
The department provides a range of learning and development support and services, policy leadership, and plans for the future of education in Victoria and in addition to leading key cross-sector collaboration. The department also plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
The Performance and Evaluation Division (PED) collects, analyses and disseminates high-quality evidence to influence decision making across the Department, government agencies and service providers to improve outcomes for children, young people and adult learners. Within PED, the Portfolio Monitoring and Reporting team prepares whole of department reports on the implementation progress of election and in-term commitments, departmental priorities, and BP3 measures for the Secretary, Executive Board, Ministers, and central agencies.
About the Role
The Project Analyst provides specialist support for department-wide performance monitoring and reporting. You will contribute to reports for Whole of Victorian Government (WoVG) election commitments and Budget Paper 3 (BP3), work closely with senior analysts and have a role in developing and implementing improvements in data visualisation. You will efficiently review and synthesise large volumes of information, distil it into headline issues, and present it authoritatively including in ministerial briefings and executive board papers.

- apply your understanding of government compliance and accountability processes to prepare meaningful briefs for executives and ministers
- demonstrate well-developed critical thinking and analytical abilities including an understanding of performance frameworks and measurement
- be an exceptional communicator with the ability to negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders to manage and meet multiple and competing deadlines
- enjoy working collaboratively, with a willingness to chip-in as needed to deliver high-quality work in short timelines
- be committed to continual learning and development and have an interest in application of new technologies
- have excellent attention to detail and advanced skills in Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, SharePoint and/or Microsoft PowerAppsInsert paragraph with details on required capabilities
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Essential: Tertiary qualification in business/public policy/finance
- Desirable: Certificate in project management
- Desirable: Relevant qualification in data analytics
- Desirable: Data visualization and presentation qualification
