Advanced Child Protection Practitioner ( CPP4 ) - Frankston Specialist - Multiple opportunities, ongoing and fixed term

Salary: CPP4: $97,955 - $111,142

Bayside Peninsula Area (Frankston) are seeking CPP4 candidates with sufficient understanding and experience within these specialist areas.

Community Based 

The Advanced Child Protection Practitioner (Community Based) is an outposted child protection position that will work as a part of a team from the Support and Safety Hub (Hubs) in the local area. The position will report to the Team Manager (Support and Safety Hubs). The position will be required to, at times, attend the local Child Protection office for child protection related activities and meetings. The position will work collaboratively with services to support earlier and more effective intervention to vulnerable children, young people and their families and, where required, support the engagement of families with services. Work will include direct involvement with unborn children, when there is a high likelihood of child protection intervention post birth. The position will also be required to contribute to the development and delivery of community education to agencies regarding child protection statutory processes and responsibilities.

Do you have: 

• Demonstrated experience in the knowledge and application of the Child Youth and Families Act 2005 (Vic) in practice, including the core responsibilities and principles of the Act. 

• Demonstrates an understanding of the legislative, policy, and practice requirements relating to family violence and to families impacted by drug and/or alcohol abuse and is able to apply these skills in practice.

Sexual Assualt Investigations Team (SAIT):

The roles within the Sexual Assault Investigation Team (SAIT) work within the child protection response unit at DFFH and located within a multi-disciplinary centre alongside dedicated and integrated multidisciplinary agencies, all of whom are united in their goal to provide a streamlined service for children and families.

The role primarily works with children and families impacted by sexual assault and children demonstrating sexually harmful behaviours.  Additionally, the team works with people who have had sexual allegations made against them, people who are under police investigations and those convicted of sexual offences against children.

Assessment Stages and Key Dates :

If shortlisted for a CPP4 role, you will be required to undertake online psychometric and personality assessments by a set date. 

• Anticipated online Assessment Centers: Advanced (CPP4): week commencing Monday 28 July 2025.  Dates will be advised to progressing candidates once confirmed
• Commencement Dates: All new child protection employees to the department are required to complete one week of mandatory online training modules from Monday 22 September 2025. 
• Following this, it is mandatory to attend the full-time five-week Practice Induction Program (PIP) commencing on Tuesday 30 September 2025.   PIP is designed to provide new staff to the child protection program with the necessary practice of knowledge and skills relating to the role. 

Successful candidates will be required to attend the PIP training in person in Melbourne. Travel/accommodation arrangements may be included for regional candidates. 

Note: preferred candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening including national police check, international police check (if required), misconduct screening, qualification checks and two professional reference checks.
