Position Details
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Statewide Manager, Disability Justice Coordination, the Principal Practitioner, Forensic Disability and Complex Needs, will have a specialist advice and input by enhancing the way frontline case management staff support complex clients, including those within the Forensic Disability system and those supported by Area-based Complex Needs Coordination. The role will provide expert case consultation and supervision to support Forensic Disability case managers/coordinators, other Statewide Services and Area-based Complex Needs Coordinators to extend their knowledge and skills in addressing forensic and complex needs and embedding reflective practice.
The role will support consistency in practice in the forensic disability and complex needs case management/coordination workforces across the State, encouraging the adoption of evidence-based and best practice approaches, where available, as well as initiating projects to contribute to the further development of the evidence base which will ensure complex clients are effectively and consistently supported.
The Principal Practitioner will have a prominent leadership role within Disability and Justice service systems, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, identifying trends, barriers and gaps in effective service delivery and advocating for quality improvement and reform.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Provide practice leadership and secondary consultation to Forensic Disability Services, Complex Needs Coordination teams, staff from other agencies, and other professionals to assist them to appropriately respond to the forensic and complex needs of clients.
- Provide expert case management intervention in the highest risk, complex and sensitive cases that informs the support and development of innovative strategies for people with complex behaviours and who pose complexities to human services.
- Establish professional practice and service delivery standards that embed collaborative, person-centred approaches to decision making and reflective practice in forensic disability and complex needs services across the state.
