H.M. Prison Langi Kal Kal is a minimum-security men's protection prison located 140klm west of Melbourne at Trawalla. The prison's primary purpose is the reintegration and preparedness of people in our care for transition to release. Langi Kal Kal is made up of 8 core industries and service area: Farm, Horticulture, Landmate, Kitchen, Metal fabrication, Poultry, Textiles & Warehouse, where the focus is on engagement, employment, training, and work readiness.

About this role

• Industry Supervisors are team leaders in the prison environment. The roles require leadership, maturity, sound judgement and confidence in decision making, with developed capabilities to coach, mentor and motivate staff and prisoners. With highly developed communication and negotiation skills, the Industry Supervisor leads and manages industry staff to achieve program and service outcomes in a multidisciplinary team and rehabilitative environment.
• In a vocational training environment, the Industry Supervisor will support Industry Officers to coach, mentor and motivate prisoners, placing emphasis on individual offender management practices with a view to upskill and train as positive rehabilitation outcomes.
• The successful candidate will have skills and experience with Metal / Textiles / Warehouse and demonstrated commitment to working with staff, prisoners and service providers in the delivery of an integrated, whole of Justice approach to reduce re-offending.
