About the Business Unit:
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a trusted justice and community safety system that works to build a just, safe and resilient Victoria. The department has ongoing obligations under the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 (Act)to align to the MARAM Framework, implement the Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme and Child Information Sharing Scheme, and is committed to providing best practice in family violence prevention, identification and response.
People, Safety, Culture and Communications (PSCC) lead the department's strategic people functions and ensure our workforce has the right skills and capabilities, culture and working environment to achieve its strategic priorities.
The Family Violence Learning and Capability team sits within the Learning and Capability function of PSCC. It builds the workforce capabilities of the department and prescribed funded agencies to identify and respond to family violence by developing and delivering customised MARAM training, according to the specific context of the workforce and applicable reforms.
About the Role:
As a Lead Consultant in the Family Violence Learning and Capability team, you will be responsible for driving family violence capability uplift aligned to the MARAM Framework. You will hold a leadership position and directly supervise two VPS 4 team members, as well as working alongside VPS 5 Learning and Capability consultants in the team, and a diverse group of departmental stakeholders.
You will report to the team manager and be involved in developing and delivering MARAM family violence training at the Foundational, Identification and Intermediate level. Expert facilitation skills and a strong understanding of the MARAM framework are required. Additionally, you will possess a strong attention to detail and be able to transform training and workforce data into engaging and clear graphics and material to inform and influence departmental executives.
Some of your duties will include:
- Driving a departmental culture of MARAM learning and capability uplift through training, practice guidance, tools, and resources that are tailored to the operational contexts of DJCS workforces and DJCS funded agencies
- Leading and managing staff with substantial autonomy, including mentoring to build training delivery and development skills
- Supporting these staff to embed evaluation and feedback mechanisms into training, to build an evidence base and ensure continuous improvement of materials to meet business needs
- Contributing to strategic leadership activities in the team and the Learning and Capability function of PSCC more broadly, including through anticipating risks to training delivery, developing solutions, and leading strategic communication activities.
About You:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Substantial experience in delivering engaging and adult-focused training sessions on complex subjects, with an in-depth operational knowledge and understanding of the MARAM Framework
- A wealth of experience managing staff, ideally in program administration or training roles
- Highly-developed understanding of family violence dynamics, with direct experience working with victim survivors and/or perpetrators, and a strong knowledge of best practice responses across justice and community settings
- Seasoned experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, to review, enhance, and co-develop training materials and resources that reflect current policy, practice reforms, and evolving needs of diverse learner groups.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A relevant tertiary qualification is required: social work, criminology, psychology, or a related discipline. Significant professional experience may be considered in lieu of this
- A Certificate IV in work-place training and assessment is highly desirable
- Travel is essential for this role and a driver's licence is required.
