Position Details
THE ROLE
The Director, Redress (Program and Operations) will:
- Oversee and lead the design and implementation of reform, legislation, system performance, policies and programs across a range of services for people who have experienced abuse, neglect and time in institutional settings. This includes leading and delivery of services as part of the National Redress Scheme and overseeing the delivery and operation of the Victorian Redress for Historical Institutional Abuse scheme (Redress) which is an election commitment and Ministerial priority.
- Manage a range of cross government work with the Commonwealth and other jurisdictions relating to Victorian Redress and National Redress and survivors of institutional care as children.
- This position will oversee and synthesise considerable existing effort that supports significant and growing policy and program areas including; people with lived and living experience of historical institutional care settings; National Redress Scheme coordination and supports; establishment and delivery of Victorian Redress. It will involve leading the unit across policy and program delivery and manage staffing capability and capacity to meet fluctuating demand, reporting and accountability.
Accountabilities include
- Lead and oversee the design, implementation and operational delivery of reform, legislation, system performance, policies and programs across a range of services for people with lived and living experience of historical institutional care settings, and National and State redress schemes. Lead the design of projects and initiatives within this area of responsibility and provide authoritative advice to government, divisions and stakeholder groups.
- Collaborate with government departments including relevant Commonwealth government departments and entities, Victorian government departments of Justice and Community Safety, Education, Premier and Cabinet, Department of Treasury and Finance, Family Safety Victoria, Victoria Police, the Coroner, and the Commission for Children and Young People in the development and design of legislation, protocols, policies and new initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strong productive relationships with department stakeholders including DFFH staff, government departments, external agencies and service providers, to improve services to children, individuals and families.
