About this role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Security Advisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical abilities and excellent communication skills, essential for assessing security risks and conveying complex information to various stakeholders. They will be responsible for assessing security risks in the software and services used by the department, leading initiatives to improve security risk assessment processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain industry-standard measures.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- 4 + years' experience assessing and reporting compliance of information security and IT security controls within large organisations.
- In-depth knowledge of modern security concepts such as common attack vectors (MITRE ATT&ACK framework), malware, security analytics, threat intelligence and trends.
- Good understanding in building and implementing frameworks and operating procedures for information security and risk management as well as experience assessing and reporting on information security and IT security threats, vulnerabilities and risks.
- Able to create and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to drive outcomes and create alignment on a vision of security operations.
- Able to communicate technical ideas and strategies effectively to non-technical audiences, including executive leadership, via multiple mediums (e.g., written communications, verbal communications, presentations, etc.).
- Builds effective relationships with third party providers, suppliers, and partners.
- Able to work independently and prioritise work to manage conflicting deadlines.
- Advanced degrees and/or relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA) are highly desirable.
This is a fixed term position available until 26 February 2026. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
