Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

The County Court of Victoria is established pursuant to the County Court Act 1958. It has original and appellate jurisdiction and is the principal trial court in the State of Victoria. The Court hears over 12,000 criminal, common law, and commercial cases each year. The County Court has unlimited monetary jurisdiction in common law and commercial matters. In its criminal jurisdiction, the Court hears all indictable offences except treason, murder, and related offences.
There are a total of 80 Judges of the Court and over 300 staff, including judicial support staff. The County Court regularly conducts circuit sittings at 12 circuit courts situated in major centres throughout regional Victoria.

About the Role
The Case Coordination Registrar in the Commercial Registry works within a team that is responsible for end-to-end management of proceedings in the Commercial Division. The role works in close collaboration with the judges and judicial registrars, providing analysis of issues and preparing case management advice.
You will liaise with parties and the legal practitioners to resolve issues and address barriers to cases progressing to facilitate the fast, cost-effective and fair resolution of commercial disputes. Once appointed as a Deputy Registrar of the County Court, you will also be required to perform legal, quasi-judicial and administrative functions as required under acts, rules and regulations, not limited to the swearing of affidavits and certifying of documents.
Some of the duties include:
- Liaise with legal practitioners, court users, and the general public to handle a high volume of complex enquiries under limited supervision.
- Interpret and apply rules and legislation and provide authoritative procedural information to parties and practitioners.
- Prepare draft orders to be referred to the Judiciary for approval, taking into consideration the needs of the parties and the relevant rules and procedures.
- Review and process interlocutory applications made to the County Court having regard to relevant legislation and meeting the needs of the court user.
- Contribute to the development of processes and practices to improve service delivery in the Commercial Registry.
In this role you will gain an in depth understanding of Court processes while working in a close-knit team that supports one another. You will engage with a broad array of stakeholders, not limited to judges and their associates, legal practitioners and self-represented litigants. This role provides an excellent insight into the civil litigation process, and has opportunities for progression
This is a full time, fixed term opportunity.
