Job Description
Are you an experienced mental health professional looking for a rewarding and challenging role? Join South West Healthcare as a Senior Mental Health Clinician - Mental Health and Police (MHAP) and work alongside Victoria Police to provide timely, community-based mental health care, support individuals and families, and help reduce pressure on Emergency Departments.
Within this role, you will:
- Provide in-person and telehealth mental health assessments and interventions.
- Support Police in Warrnambool, Portland, Hamilton, Camperdown, and surrounding areas.
- Deliver brief, community-based interventions using trauma-informed approaches
- Assist with direct admissions to mental health beds where required
- Provide training and education to build cross-sector understanding
- Document actions and outcomes accurately

Position overview
- Employment Type: Full Time, Ongoing (80 hours per fortnight) with a monthly accrued day off Working a 7-day roster between 1:00 pm - 9:30 pm.
- Location: Warrnambool Campus
- Classification and Salary Range (pro rata+ superannuation):
- Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 4: $112,465.60 - $121,113.20
- Social Worke Grade 3: $101,597.60 - $116,074.40
- Occupational Therapist Grade 3: $101,597.60 - $116,074.40
- Psychologist Grade 3: $108,279.60 - $123,905.60
What you bring
- Registered Nurse, Allied Health, or Psychologist with relevant AHPRA or association registration.
- Extensive experience in mental health service provision (5-8+ years depending on discipline).
- Expertise in community-based psychiatric triage, assessment, treatment, and support.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, family violence legislation, and Aboriginal mental health frameworks.
- Ability to work independently, manage complex cases, and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- A current Victorian driver's license.
