About the role
South West Healthcare (SWH) offers an excellent opportunity for ACEM trainees to undertake a dedicated 6-month Anaesthetics rotation, with exposure to both elective and emergency surgical lists.
For suitable candidates, 12-month contracts may be considered, incorporating a 6-month Emergency Medicine term.
Our Emergency Department sees approximately 27,000 presentations per year, with a 20% admission rate. We are a Tier 2, non-major referral site, accredited for 24 months of ACEM training, including the paediatric logbook (over 5,000 paediatric cases annually).
As a regional trauma centre, we manage a wide range of presentations, including major trauma from road,
farm, and industrial incidents. Our growing list of supporting specialties includes:
- Obstetrics & Gynaecology
- Psychiatry
- Intensive Care
- Plastics
- Orthopaedics
- Geriatrics
- General Surgery and Medicine
Our team is supported not only by FACEMs but also by consultants with expertise in sports medicine, GP anaesthetics, and nurse practitioners. You'll experience a wide variety of presentations across all levels of acuity.
Position overview
- Employment Type: Full-time (86 hours per fortnight), Fixed term
- Rotation Dates:
- 2 February 2026 – 2 August 2026
- 3 August 2026 – 31 January 2027
- Location: Warrnambool Campus, you may be required to travel to other campuses
- Classification: Commensurate with experience
- Salary Range: $129,000 - $175,000 pro rata, plus superannuation
