About the role
As Project Lead, you will oversee the design and delivery of the VLA Legal Learning Initiative project. The Legal Learning Initiative focuses on three key objectives:
- Introducing a new legal induction process for all new VLA lawyers and legal assistants
- Establishing a structured, effective and evidence-based program of ongoing legal learning and support, with a focus on core legal, as well as soft and systems skills for new and junior lawyers
- Extending access to VLA's legal education resources to panel practitioners and the broader legal assistance sector.
The role will lead various stages of the project, working closely with multiple stakeholders across VLA, with a particular focus and engagement with VLA's regional offices and staff. The role will also supervise the Legal Learning Specialist, ensuring content development, as well as the coordination of existing content, is aligned with project goals and organisational priorities.
This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country. Applicants based in regional offices will also be considered.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Demonstrated expertise in the use of project management principles, methodologies and tools.
- Experience in adult learning, legal education, capability development, program design and /or professional learning strategy, ideally in the legal assistance sector or a public interest law context.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent professional experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated understanding of, or experience working within, the legal assistance sector, legal practice or the broader legal service delivery environment.
- Demonstrated experience working with First Nations Australians, including an understanding of the cultural norms, communication styles and complex issues experienced by Australian First Nations peoples.
