Position Details
THE ROLE
The Director, Aboriginal Initiatives will have high-level leadership, stakeholder engagement and project management skills. The Director is responsible for leading the provision of strategic leadership and direction to support the implementation of Dhelk Dja: Safe Our Way – Strong Culture, Strong Peoples, Strong Families (the Aboriginal 10 Year Family Violence Agreement), and its supporting second three-year Action Plan (2023-2025), based on the foundation of Aboriginal self-determination.
The Director provides strategic and operational support for the Dhelk Dja governance structures including the Dhelk Dja Partnership Forum, Koori Caucus, Dhelk Dja sub working groups, inter-departmental committee, Regional Action Groups and Family Safety Victoria's engagement with other Aboriginal governance fora to ensure the voices of Aboriginal Victorians are at the centre of policy development, design and implementation across the family and sexual violence reform agendas.
The Director builds strong and effective relationships and partnership approaches across Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal services, Family Safety Victoria and government to implement Dhelk Dja's strategic priorities, whilst aligning with other key Aboriginal strategies and governance structures across government supporting the Government's commitment to Aboriginal self-determination.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Drive a partnership approach and strong engagement channels with Aboriginal communities, services, department, whole of government and sector stakeholders to support the implementation of the Dhelk Dja agreement, supporting action plans and associated family and sexual violence initiatives.
- Lead the design and development of strategies and action plans aligned to Dhelk Dja that deliver against community expectations and departmental and government objectives.
- Oversee the establishment of strategic policy projects, analyses and frameworks to coordinate and monitor the implementation of Dhelk Dja actions and budget initiatives across government relating.
