The goal of this division is to strengthen the advice we provide to Government as it delivers its significant infrastructure pipeline and make it easier for our stakeholders to engage with DTF. Unifying financial, commercial and technical advice will position us to better address the evolving needs of Government, as well as supporting a more rigorous and innovative approach to state infrastructure; through:
- leveraging the unique position to integrate advice by combining the financial, commercial and technical aspects of infrastructure delivery
- combining resources to keep pace with growth in the Government's infrastructure program
- having clear contact points for stakeholders in departments, delivery agencies and industry
- better supporting Government and stakeholders with insights on whole of government pipeline risks and opportunities
Infrastructure Strategy and Project Advisory
Through industry capability uplift, project assurance, and developing systemic reforms, we provide best practice infrastructure advice and strategies to achieve value for money for Victorians.
About the role
This role will sit within the Strategic Improvements team and will contribute to the successful delivery of the teams' initiatives related to major infrastructure projects. The successful applicant will be expected to prepare a range of project documents, monitor and report on project status, contributing to risk and issue management. The role may also include research and policy development as well as analysis of existing policies and procedures relevant to the team's responsibilities.
Key accountabilities
- Prepare a range of project and policy documents, monitor and report on project status, contributing to risk and issue management, and undertake research on relevant topics as requested.
- Build and maintain positive stakeholder relationships and communication channels, using informal and formal methods of communication, to achieve project objectives.
- Manage the workflow of briefings, reports and correspondence, as well as assist in the preparation of draft responses for consideration.
- Coordinate stakeholder consultation and feedback from technical experts as part of developing the State's infrastructure policies, proposals, and advice and advancing a whole of Government perspective.
- Conduct business-as-usual activities, such as procurement, event management, document management, agendas, minute taking, progress reporting, and recruitment.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Senior Manager, Capability Improvements/Digital Build including any duties required to support the broader Infrastructure Division.
Key selection criteria
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, both in writing and verbally, including preparing briefing notes, and reports that distil complex technical information for senior decision-makers.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, government agencies, and external stakeholders, including the capacity to manage expectations, negotiate, and contribute to collaborative project outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and deliver project activities within agreed timeframes and quality standards, including managing competing priorities, monitoring progress, and identifying risks or issues that may affect delivery.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to research, interpret, and synthesise qualitative and quantitative data to support evidence-based recommendations.
- Demonstrated adaptability and commitment to continuous improvement, including the capacity to work effectively in evolving policy and project environments, embrace new approaches and digital tools, and apply lessons learned to strengthen project outcomes.
