About this role
About the role:
The Senior Advisor is an important dual-focused role providing trusted executive and advisory support to the Executive Director as well as flexibly taking on project support and delivery roles as needed based on branch and divisional requirements.
The role is responsible for coordinating the overall strategic outputs of the branch, undertakes executive level project work, and is pivotal in prioritising and progressing urgent matters on behalf of the Executive Director.
The Senior Advisor takes on complex project work, including provision of quality assurance, and assists with high priority issues management. They are responsible for the provision of authoritative advice across a range of policy and operational areas in support of the Executive Director, and broader branch.
This is a varied role which works on all aspects of support to a busy branch with a particular focus on working to ensure that systems and processes are well designed and continuously improved. Attention to detail and strong communication skills are essential.

About you:
Are you able to demonstrate the following?
- Design and implement processes of continuous improvement and innovation of branch business and operating models, as well as the systems, toolkits and processes that support delivery of our work.
- Provide high level support for executive and Ministerial level meetings where required, including scheduling, agenda setting, coordinating papers, and monitoring the implementation of actions and decisions.
- Regularly update DH's Executive Board about the status of delivery of savings, including giving visibility of risks and barriers to achievement of savings targets
- Intervene where necessary if delivery risks are identified to ensure successful delivery of initiatives. Manage any adjustments and changes required to savings measures based on changes to operating context or revised government decisions
- Prepare and present a variety of complex and accurate written materials including presentations, reports, briefs and communications, ensuring materials are high quality and fit for purpose.
Qualifications / Specialist Expertise
Qualifications
- A qualification in fields related to health, business and/or management would be desirable.
Specialist Expertise
- Knowledge of the department and its operating practices as well as government processes and information systems would be advantageous.
