About the role:
The Manager, Aboriginal Policy will hold accountability for policy development to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people and their families living in Victoria and will lead a small team to coordinate and lead responses to new and emerging issues and risks relating to new policies and strategies that impact on health outcomes for the Aboriginal community.
The role involves developing effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including other government agencies, health services and key Aboriginal health organisation and a range of program and policy areas within the department.
The successful applicant will demonstrate sound leadership and people management skills, as well as an ability to influence others to maximise efficiency and effectiveness of the Victorian health workforces and improve outcomes for Victorians.

About you:
Can you demonstrate the following?
- Identify emerging issues, risk and trends impacting on the successful achievement of key business objectives and imperatives and provide high quality business intelligence and sound recommendations based on comprehensive research and investigations.
- Contributes advanced expertise and knowledge to strategic planning and decision-making processes
- Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, provide advice on processes and policies, and work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide leadership, guidance and authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed, comprehensive reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex matters.
- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
Qualifications / Specialist Expertise
Qualifications
- A relevant tertiary qualification in a health discipline or relevant public policy area and / or a relevant post-graduate qualification in a relevant health or public policy area is desirable.
Specialist Expertise

Demonstrated experience and understanding of working with Aboriginal organisations and Aboriginal community.

A strong understanding of the Victorian health system, and knowledge of the department and its operating processes and information systems is essential.
