About the Role 

This role is a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of the Victorian Government Solicitor's Office by delivering high-quality legal advice and services to our clients, with a particular focus on Native Title and Aboriginal cultural heritage matters.

Working under supervision, you will manage a diverse range of legal issues that are central to the rights and interests of Traditional Owners and the broader community.

This role offers scope to broaden your legal expertise across other practice areas, including Commercial, Property, and Intellectual Property advice and transactions.

Skills and Experience (for Soli, SS and PS roles) 

  • Ideal candidate will have 1+ years post-admission experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage legal matters and file administration within budget, under appropriate supervision, while delivering high-quality written and oral advice that simplifies complex legal issues.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating a range of commercial legal documents with attention to detail and legal precision.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills, with the ability to undertake structured and focused analysis of complex legal issues.
  • Willingness to contribute to team and organisational development through mentoring junior staff, participating in client secondments, and engaging in knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Capacity to assist in litigation matters, including instructing counsel in courts and tribunals, particularly in Native Title proceedings, under supervision.
