Position: Respiratory Nurse Consultant
- Employment Type: Part-time (48 hours per fortnight), On-going position
- Location: Warrnambool Campus
- Classification: Clinical Nurse Consultant C
- Salary: $132,116.40 (pro rata), plus superannuation
About the role
Are you passionate about respiratory health and patient-centred care? South West Healthcare is seeking a skilled and compassionate Respiratory Nurse to provide expert clinical support across hospital and community settings. You will act as a resource and educator for healthcare teams while delivering individualised care for clients with asthma and other respiratory conditions.
A core part of the role is mentoring and supporting Primary and Community Health Programs, assisting clients to navigate hospital and community services through evidence-based pathways, resulting in:
- Improved client outcomes
- Development of models to support patient self-management
- Capacity building to reduce avoidable hospitalisations
What you bring
- Clinical Expertise: Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with at least five years post-graduate experience. Post-graduate qualification in asthma/respiratory education and advanced skills in respiratory assessment and management.
- Leadership & Teamwork: Proven leadership, mentoring, and teaching skills within multidisciplinary teams. Strong communication, interpersonal, organisational, and problem-solving abilities. Understanding of interdisciplinary roles and demonstrated initiative.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), electronic health records, and accurate data entry. Able to maintain client records and generate reports.
Other Requirements: Current Driver's Licence.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of evidence-based asthma and chronic respiratory disease guidelines (National Asthma Council, GOLD, TSANZ, Lung Foundation Australia)
- Experience in acute and community management of respiratory disease
