About Us
Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission. Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is the first level of the Victorian court system and is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria. It has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 locations, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
the Drug Court (DC) functions as a statutory division within the Magistrates' Court of Victoria and is part of MCV's Specialist Courts and Programs. This division offers an alternative sentencing option for offenders struggling with drug and/or alcohol dependency who have committed offenses.
About the Role
The Drug Court Clinical Advisor (DCCA) provides expert, evidence-based guidance to the Drug Court of Victoria, supporting participants through assessment, treatment planning, and referrals. The role ensures adherence to the Drug Court model and collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to promote recovery and informed judicial decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive drug and alcohol assessments for prospective participants
- Develop individualized treatment plans and coordinate referrals to appropriate services
- Advise the judiciary on suitability for Drug and Alcohol Treatment Orders (DATO)
- Provide secondary consultation to the Drug Court team on substance use and treatment strategies
- Prepare biopsychosocial assessments and progress reports for the Magistrate
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including treatment agencies and government departments

About You
- Proven experience in alcohol and other drug (AOD) or participant treatment management
- Relevant qualifications or actively working towards obtaining them
- Familiarity with therapeutic jurisprudence and problem-solving courts in Victoria
- Experience working with forensic populations and managing substance-related issues is an advantage
