- Salary range: $101,869 - $118,844 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging

About the role
The Legal Quality Auditor role fosters and develops positive relationships with private lawyers who undertake work on behalf of Victoria Legal Aid (VLA). The role will undertake quality audits across a range of specialist panels, ensuring VLA's practice standards and quality expectations are met, and work closely with VLA's practice partners to drive continuous improvement and innovation in service delivery to legal aid clients.
The ideal candidate will have substantial legal practice experience. While previous experience in auditing is highly desirable, specialist training will be provided in advance of undertaking audits of each panel. You will use your expertise to provide training and support to private practitioners to enable them to meet their obligations to provide quality legal services to legal aid clients.
This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Understanding of quality management and auditing, and the ability to make consistent, fair decisions and apply appropriate outcomes.
- Legal practice experience and/or a tertiary qualification in auditing (desirable).
- Understanding of legal professional obligations and legislation, understanding of administrative law principles and extensive practice experience in criminal law or family law (including child protection) or ability to analyse and interpret laws and policies and apply them to complex fact situations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and effectively progress tasks within set timeframes
- A current Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).
