Architecture Practice Lead
- One (1) ongoing position offered in the Business Technology Services (BTS) Division
- Salary range $188,297 - $256,088 plus 12% superannuation – VPS Grade 7
- Based in Melbourne CBD, with hybrid working arrangements

The opportunity
The role leads a team of architects across domains (business, data, application, technology) to ensure alignment with business goals, technology standards, and future-state architecture. The Architecture Practice Lead drives architectural governance, fosters innovation and ensures consistent delivery of high-quality architectural outcomes across projects and initiatives.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Business Technology Services, you will be responsible for:
- Developing enterprise-wide architecture and processes to embed the strategic application of change in the management of the organisation.
- Leading the development of architectures for complex solutions ensuring consistency with agreed requirements.
- Providing advice, guidance and expertise to promote adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards.
- Managing the provision of consultancy services and/or a team of consultants.
Who we are looking for
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise or solution architecture practices, with the ability to set strategic direction, influence Information Communication Technology (ICT) investment decisions and align architecture with organisational goals.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, communicate complex technical concepts clearly and influence decision-making across business and technology domains. Ability to represent the organisation at industry forums, public conferences and at Interjurisdictional ICT Committee meetings.
- Deep understanding of architectural governance, frameworks (e.g., TOGAF), and standards, with experience in establishing and maintaining architecture principles, patterns and assurance processes.
- Experience supporting large-scale digital transformation or ICT programs, ensuring architectural integrity while enabling agile delivery and business outcomes.
- Demonstrated capability in leading and developing high-performing architecture teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
