About the role
Reporting to the Manager of Internal Legal Services, this role coordinates Victoria Legal Aid's (VLA) complaint's function. The role is integral to strengthening VLA's commitment to fair, timely and trauma-informed complaint management by combining hands-on supervision of the investigation of complex and sensitive complaints with a strategic focus on process improvement.
The role also acts as one of VLA's privacy and freedom of information officers. The Investigations Coordinator will improve governance, and ensure consistent, high-quality outcomes that align with VLA's values and responsibilities.
This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Experience in alternative dispute resolution and/complaint handling.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and train staff in complaints and dispute resolution.
- Experience in regulatory or organisational compliance (desirable).
- Legal qualifications/Australian Practising Certificate and/or experience (desirable).
- Demonstrated experience working with First Nations Australians and understanding of cultural norms and communication styles (desirable).
