Position Details
THE ROLE
The Accounting Operations team oversees two key functions: Accounting Support and Cash Management. Accounting Support involves the analysis and reconciliation of complex financial data including month end reconciliations, year-end working papers and general ledger journals. Cash Management entails cash forecasting, efficient cash and on-line banking management.
The key focus of this position is to assist with the analysis and reconciliation of Departmental financial data and assist with the compliance with the applicable Accounting Standards, policies and guidelines, across both streams.
The position plays an integral part with month end reconciliations, and general ledger journals, including bank and control accounts to meet audit and financial reporting requirements. The position will demonstrate a high level of proficiency and expertise in the reconciliation of data and departmental corporate systems.
You will demonstrate a high level of proficiency and expertise in completing a diverse range of processes to support the delivery of high quality efficient cash management and banking services in accordance with the relevant legislation, business rules and policies and guidelines.
This role will apply a good understanding of accounting standards to assist on the formulating and improvement of the departmental accounting policy and processes.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Oversee the timely and accurate completion of complex account reconciliations, annual account working papers, financial reports, briefings and other ad hoc reports and correspondence.
- Provide high level accounting support for the administration and reconciliation of the corporate financial, subsidiary, banking and cash management systems including the tracking, escalation and management of system defects, reconciliation items and data remediation activities.
- Manage transactions using departmental financial systems, maintain financial systems that support delivery of best-practice, contemporary financial management and services and identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
