Position Details
THE ROLE
The Aboriginal-led System Design team works to drive Aboriginal-led and self-determined design and delivery of policy, strategy and legislation for Aboriginal children, families and young people associated with Victoria's Child Protection, Care Services and Child and Family Services system.
The Senior Policy Officer role presents an exciting opportunity to lead the design and delivery of activities that support the implementation of the Statement of Recognition Act and Wungurilwil Gapgapduir: Aboriginal Children and Families Agreement.
You will be responsible for leading policy projects that support critical self-determined and Aboriginal-led child protection and family services reform.
The ideal candidate will require strong policy, written and stakeholder engagement skills. This role will also be well suited to a dynamic team-player and highly organised individual with excellent verbal communication, project planning and problem-solving skills.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Lead the full life cycle of policy projects that support critical self-determined and Aboriginal-led child protection and family services reform, including:
- Undertaking research, analysis and implementation of Aboriginal-led policy design and delivery
- Developing policy initiatives that meet government and departmental objectives.
- Managing projects and being accountable for the successful delivery and completion within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
- Monitoring and evaluating projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.
- Provide authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex matters.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate a partnership approach
