This position is a Fixed-Term, Full-time role for 12 months.
The Senior Cyber Security Analyst will work closely with the Manager, Enterprise Cybersecurity GRC and awareness to support and coordinate a range program activities to support VPDSS maturity uplift and Standards assurance. This role is critical in supporting the department's cybersecurity posture by doing analysis, risk assessment, identifying gaps and coordinating remediation activities to support the project Leads. The analyst will play a key role in ensuring that security measures are aligned with organisational objectives and meet governance risk and regulatory compliance requirements.

About you:
The Department of Health is seeking a highly capable Senior Cyber Security Analyst to strengthen our Governance, Risk and Compliance function. This role supports the protection of critical health information and services by ensuring our cyber security practices are robust, well-governed and aligned with departmental and whole-of-government requirements. You will contribute to the development of policies, risk assessments and assurance activities that guide the department's security posture and help us respond effectively to emerging threats.
Success in this position requires strong interpersonal capability. You will need to recognise the concerns, motivations and emotions that underpin stakeholder needs, communicate with authenticity and objectivity, and use your insight into individuals to deliver outcomes that support both the organisation and the people you work with. The role demands excellent planning and organisational skill, including the ability to set clear priorities, define processes and resources, establish practical systems to track work, and identify barriers before they impact progress.
You will be expected to approach challenges with a structured and analytical mindset. This includes gathering relevant information, consulting with stakeholders, evaluating issues from multiple viewpoints and determining solutions that are effective, pragmatic and aligned with security and operational requirements. Implementing and reviewing these solutions is a key part of the work, ensuring ongoing improvement and adaptability.

Mandatory
- A tertiary qualification relevant to ICT, Information Security, or similar would be highly advantageous.
- High level competency in project management, scheduling and reporting to the highest quality and standard.
- Experience with cyber risk management, governance and compliance requirements.
- Experience analysing and recommending fit for purpose solutions.
- Experience with common information security frameworks e.g. Victorian Protective Data Security Standards, Essential 8, NIST.
