About Us
Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.
Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdiction's own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly.
ChCV
The Children's Court of Victoria (ChCV) is a specialist court that hears and determines cases in two divisions. The Family Division hears and determines cases involving the care and protection of Victorian children who are at risk of harm. The Criminal Division hears and determines the criminal charges brought against children between the ages of 10-17 years.
As a specialist and dedicated court, we are able to focus solely on responding to the particular needs and interests of children, young people and their families. This focus guides our approach to the delivery of judicial, dispute resolution, registry and support services, as well as the physical environment of our courts.
The ChCV expertly and fairly applies the law in cases involving children and young people. We work closely with youth justice, legal services, child protection and other community-based services to provide a multi-disciplinary court response to address the best interest of children in need of protection, whilst promoting the accountability and rehabilitation of young offenders and in doing so, improving community safety.
About the Role
Working closely with the Senior Registrar, the State Coordinating Registrar and ChCV judicial officer, the Operations Manager is responsible for the delivery of responsive, consistent and effective judicial support and court services.
The Operations Manager will:
- Contribute to the development and commissioning of Children's Court services at the new Wyndham Court and oversee the ongoing management and improvement of that site, including essential services such as, building maintenance, security and cleaning in accordance with court policies and procedures.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Court, ensuring the delivery of high-quality court registry, court support and client support services and quasi-judicial functions in accordance with appropriate policies and court operational practices.
- Manage and lead staff in delivering responsive services by monitoring demand pressures, performance outputs, identifying service gaps and implementing effective solutions.
- Initiate, build and enhance key relationships with internal and external stakeholders including the judiciary, legal profession, police, state government departments, other organisations and court users and represent the Court at meetings and on committees as required.
- Provide appropriate and authoritative advice on all matters coming within the Court's jurisdictions to key stakeholders including the Judiciary, legal profession and the public.
About You
The ideal candidate will have highly developed team leadership skills and experience, as well as an advanced understanding and extensive knowledge of legislation, practices, policies and procedures applicable to Victorian Courts and Tribunals. You will also have:
