Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

The County Court of Victoria is established pursuant to the County Court Act 1958. It has original and appellate jurisdiction and is the principal trial court in the State of Victoria. The Court hears over 12,000 criminal, common law, and commercial cases each year. The County Court has unlimited monetary jurisdiction in common law and commercial matters. In its criminal jurisdiction, the Court hears all indictable offences except treason, murder, and related offences.
There are a total of 80 Judges of the Court and over 300 staff, including judicial support staff. The County Court regularly conducts circuit sittings at 12 circuit courts situated in major centres throughout regional Victoria.

About the Role
The County Court of Victoria is seeking an exceptional legal professional to lead its Case Management Team. This high-impact role supports the judicial registrars, Head of the Criminal Division and senior executives by providing leadership to facilitate the sustainable case management of cases in the Criminal Division Administration state-wide.
As Manager, you will oversee a highly skilled team of division lawyers and associates to judicial registrars in the management of cases to identify and resolve issues as early as possible in the case management lifecycle and to ensure matters are ready for trial. This will also involve providing advice to the Director, Criminal Division Administration on the Court's case management functions and suggest initiatives for the Division.
Duties:
- Provide leadership, high level advice and guidance to a team of lawyers and associates undertaking case management activities in support of the judicial officers of the Division.
- In collaboration with the Criminal Division Judicial Registrars, monitor the Criminal Division's approach to case management and provide authoritative advice to the Director - Criminal Division Administration and Head of Division in relation to critical issues that arise and recommend options to address same.
- Work collaboratively with judicial officers to ensure that operational needs are being met by the Case Management team. Proactively address any operational and staff issues so that they are resolved in a satisfactory and timely manner.
- Provide authoritative advice to the Head of Division, Criminal Division Group and Director - Criminal Division Administration, about the Division's performance through preparation of high-level technical reports, memoranda and briefings.
- Lead, oversee and advise on the implementation of policy and procedural decisions/initiatives that pertain to and affect the Division's approach to case management.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Ideally, at least five years' experience in legal practice.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and support decision making on operational issues.
- Strong relationship management and negotiation skills across judicial and operational stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing legal team.
- Excellent judgment, discretion, and understanding of criminal procedure.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in law is required.
- Holds a current unrestricted practising certificate or is eligible to obtain an unrestricted practising certificate.
