Position Details

About the Role: 

The Team Leader, Industry Advisory is responsible for managing the operational delivery of technical building and plumbing examinations, assessments, and industry advice that support the BPC's administration of the registration and licensing scheme under the Building Act 1993.  

This includes oversight of a multidisciplinary team comprising of: 

  •  Technical subject matter experts; 
  •  Building Advisors and Plumbing Examiners; and  
  •  Assessment Coordination. 

The role proactively ensures the timely, consistent, high-quality technical advice and examination outcomes, and supports both the Manager, Industry Advisory and larger L&R leadership team in reviewing applications and providing strategic technical guidance. 

What we are looking for: 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality outcomes within set timeframes. 
  • Sound knowledge of building and plumbing regulatory frameworks, with experience providing technical advice and overseeing complex assessments. 
  • Strong capability in planning, forecasting, and responding to emerging issues, with a focus on achieving corporate objectives and operational efficiency. 
  • Demonstrated experience driving process improvements and implementing best practices to enhance assessment quality and operational outcomes. 
  • Current registration, or eligibility for registration as a Building or Plumbing Practitioner. 
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable)

The Building & Plumbing Commission (BPC) is Victoria's regulator for building and plumbing.  

It supports the growing Victorian community through the developments of harms-based regulation that is proactive and informed by data and intelligence. The BPC regulates for better consumer outcomes and is committed to safety, compliance and buildings that last.
