About the role:
This role is a Fixed Term, Full-time position to 22 January 2027.
The Manager, Divisional Priority Projects is responsible for coordinating and delivering priority projects related to health system service design and improvement, within the Hospitals and Health Services (HHS) Division.
The role will provide flexible project management and specialised support to a broad range of issues and workstreams in the HHS Division, often in complex, time-limited environments. The Manager will work collaboratively with teams across the HHS Division, assisting senior leaders in identifying and coordinating divisional staff, where required, with the necessary skills to support project delivery and success.
Key responsibilities will include planning, executing, and monitoring project tasks, ensuring timely delivery of milestones, and preparing high-quality advice and communications for senior leaders and stakeholders. The Manager will apply core capabilities, including effective project management, stakeholder liaison, issue resolution, and clear communication of new and complex information.

About you:
The Department of Health is seeking an experienced and motivated Manager, Hospitals and Health Services to provide strategic leadership and high-level project management support across the health system. This role plays a key part in driving initiatives that strengthen hospital and health service delivery and contribute to whole-of-government priorities.
Reporting to senior leadership, the Manager will lead and manage complex projects from initiation through to delivery, ensuring objectives are clearly defined, risks are effectively managed, and outcomes are achieved within agreed timeframes. The role requires strong consultation and influencing skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across government, health services and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality, evidence-based outcomes.
The successful candidate will demonstrate sound leadership capability, translating organisational strategy into meaningful plans and motivating teams to deliver against shared goals. Where the role has direct reports, the Manager will model organisational values, clearly define role expectations, manage performance, and support employee engagement and development through constructive feedback and coaching.
This role requires high-level conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess complex issues from multiple perspectives, develop practical solutions, and provide robust advice to senior decision-makers. The Manager will apply strategic thinking to ensure initiatives align with broader departmental and government priorities, taking a long-term view while remaining responsive to emerging issues.
Strong stakeholder management skills are essential, including the ability to balance competing interests, build productive partnerships, and identify innovative approaches to resolve complex challenges. Mandatory
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in managing and supporting ministerial, cabinet, parliamentary and departmental executive functions and processes would be advantageous but not required.
- A tertiary qualification in fields related to health, business, finance, and/or project management would be desirable.
