About the role:
The Principal Project Manager, Health Technology Services (HTS) provides effective management and oversees all aspects for the end-to-end delivery of digital health ICT projects within the Department of Health, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and compliance with Department and Victorian Government frameworks. This role reports into the Program Manager, Health Technology Services.
The position collaborates with various internal teams, health sector senior stakeholders, and external vendors to deliver high-quality technology digital solutions that support health service delivery across Victoria.

About you:
To be successful in this role you require the following skills
- Written Communication - Prepares complex briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language; edits written communications to ensure they contain the information necessary to achieve their purpose and meet audience needs; ensures appropriate style and formats are used.
- Project Management - Consults, liaises with and influences key stakeholders; produces detailed project plans where objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified; monitors performance against objectives and manages project risks and issues; ensures project objectives are met.
- Stakeholder Management - Identifies issues in common for one or more stakeholders and uses to build mutually beneficial partnerships; identifies and responds to stakeholder's underlying needs; uses understanding of the stakeholder's organisational context to ensure outcomes are achieved; find innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues.
Specialist Experience/Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification with a significant ICT component, or an equivalent discipline, is desirable but not mandatory
- PRINCE2 Practitioner certification (or equivalent) is desirable but not mandatory.
- Minimum of 10 years ICT project management experience, preferably in both infrastructure and application delivery projects.
- Minimum of 5 years project management experience either within the Victorian Public Service or within the Victorian Public Health Sector.
- Must have experience managing delivery of strategies for complex ICT applications, including management of an external vendor in delivery of such strategies.
- Must have a proven track record in managing large complex projects with statewide impact that have encompassed, procurement, contract management, managing teams of specialised and senior resources possibly from third party organisations, identifying and managing issues and risks across projects, and managing the roll-out of complex systems across multiple sites.
- Health care sector knowledge, and experience in system integration in hospital and health environments.
