Wellbeing Officer - Hospital Outreach Post-Suicidal Engagement (HOPE)
- Employment Type: Part Time, (56 hours per fortnight) Ongoing
- Location: Warrnambool Campus

- Salary Range: $74,162.40 - $82,2971.20 pro rata, plus superannuation
About the role
Are you passionate about walking alongside people during some of life's most vulnerable moments?
South West Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and skilled Wellbeing Officer to join our Hospital Outreach Post Suicidal Engagement (HOPE) Program. This is a meaningful opportunity to support individuals, families and carers following a suicide attempt or during periods of suicidal distress. Helping them move toward safety, recovery and reconnection.
Based at our Warrnambool Campus, you will join a dedicated and supportive multidisciplinary team delivering trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care across the South West Mental Health catchment.
Working closely with our Mental Health Community Support Service and clinical teams, you will:
- Provide psychosocial outreach support to people aged 16 years and over
- Collaboratively develop safety and wellbeing plans
- Support individuals to identify goals and build practical strategies for recovery
- Connect clients with community-based services and supports
- Deliver short-term, focused outreach support (up to three months)
This role offers variety, autonomy and the opportunity to build genuine therapeutic relationships that can make a lasting impact.
Some flexibility is required, with occasional work outside standard business hours (including weekends) to best meet client needs.
What you bring
- A relevant tertiary qualification in social or community services.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience supporting individuals in crisis or mental health concerns.
- Experience working under clinical or professional supervision.
- A strong commitment to trauma-informed and recovery oriented practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Confidence using digital systems and maintaining accurate records.
- A current driver's licence (essential).
