Position Title: Maintenance Handy Person
Classification: GL6
Salary per hour: $37.19 + superannuation + generous salary packaging options
Employment Type: Ongoing part time 72 hours per fortnight up to full time available

Role Description
Heathcote Health are looking for a Maintenance Handyperson to join our team and support the smooth, efficient, and compliant operation of our facility.
This role is essential in ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. If you're someone who can turn your hand to a bit of everything—repairs, equipment checks, grounds care, and responsive maintenance—this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
As our Maintenance Handyperson, you will:
General Maintenance
- Carry out routine repairs and maintenance on buildings, fixtures, equipment, and furniture.
- Undertake minor carpentry, painting, plastering, and basic plumbing tasks.
- Conduct regular inspections and report issues to the Facilities Manager.
- Keep tools, equipment, and workshop areas clean, safe, and organised.
- Provide coverage for the Facilities Manager during extended leave periods.
- Assist with other tasks as required.
Equipment & Systems
- Assist with the upkeep of health service equipment.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks.
- Support the installation, movement, and safe operation of equipment.
- Ensure safe handling and relocation of electrical equipment in line with organisational guidelines.
Grounds & External Areas
- Maintain external paths, gardens, and surrounding grounds.
- Carry out minor repairs to outdoor structures, gates, and fencing.
- Assist with waste management, including disposal of bulk items.
Safety & Compliance
- Work in accordance with WHS legislation, facility policies, and manufacturer instructions.
- Identify hazards and report risks promptly.
- Participate in emergency procedures when required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation.
Fleet Vehicles
- Report defects or servicing needs to the Facilities Manager.
- Assist with arranging vehicle servicing, repairs, or inspections.
- Support safe and compliant use of organisational fleet vehicles.
Customer Service & Engagement
- Respond to staff maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
- Communicate respectfully and clearly with residents and visitors.
- Collaborate with contractors and support coordination when needed.
About you
- Demonstrated experience in maintenance and building works
- Current Victorian Driver's License
