The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Director, Community Correctional Services to provide executive leadership for Corrections Victoria, Community Operations.
About the Business Unit
Corrections Victoria's purpose is to enhance community safety through the operation of safe and humane community corrections, adult prison and post-sentence systems that support reducing reoffending by delivering on the fundamentals of good order and control in prisons, a professional and skilled workforce, case management and programs and services that address the root causes of offending behaviour.
Community Operations is responsible for the operation of Victoria's Community Correctional Services (CCS), with over 8,000 people on community-based orders across more than 35 locations. It ensures offenders are safely managed and aims to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
About the Role
The Director, CCS leads General Managers across these 35 locations to drive the performance of community corrections (including compliance, culture, assurance and achievement of Service Delivery Outcomes). The Director role is responsible for the operational performance of the community corrections system, the provision of high-level technical advice on correctional matters and related organisational issues and supporting General Managers to achieve a standard of excellence in the delivery of community operations.
The position is also responsible for assisting the Deputy Commissioner, Community Operations through the provision of high level and strategic advice on the current community correctional environment and will support the future development of effective correctional operations. This role is instrumental in identifying and responding to areas of community operations that require either a state-wide approach, or a level of internal oversight and / or review.
The role is responsible for embedding ongoing improvements in operations, in collaboration with the Deputy Commissioner, Community Operations to identify issues that are impacting on the performance of community correctional operations. The Director is also required to lead key projects that require a state-wide approach and supporting General Managers to deliver on local projects.
The position will oversee operations in North and West Metro Melbourne along with North Area and frequent travel will be required to all locations.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Provide strategic and executive leadership across state-wide community correctional service, leading operational delivery of services that are safe, effective, and aligned with Corrections Victoria's strategic objectives and legislative obligations.
- Visible and values-based leadership to community correctional services staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Drive improved system-wide outcomes for community correctional services through driving performance, risk management, and evidence-based service delivery that enhances community safety and offender rehabilitation.
- Direct budgets to support fiscally sustainable and efficient community corrections system, with strong governance and stewardship of public resources.
- Lead the effective management and resolution of high-risk, sensitive, and time-critical matters impacting the 24/7 operation of community correctional services across Victoria, briefing up to the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner and exercising sound judgement at an executive level.
Qualifications/ Requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification is highly desirable.
