The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Senior Maintenance Officer, to provide a critical role within Tarrengower Prison.
About the Business Unit
At Corrections Victoria, our purpose is to deliver effective correctional services for a safe community.
Located at Maldon, Tarrengower Prison is a Minimum-Security Prison for women. The focus of Tarrengower prison is rehabilitation via individual case management, employment, education, training and also the provision of programs and targeted interventions to address offending behaviour and promote the development of prosocial behaviour. Tarrengower prison provides contemporary and quality correctional services that prepare prisoners for transition and reintegration.
About the Role
Some of your duties will include:
- In collaboration with the Facility Manager be responsible for the efficient and effective management of the maintenance of the Prison.
- Provide maintenance support to the prison facility, including diagnostic advice regarding buildings, facilities, plant, and equipment across the site.
- Act as the main on site liaison for contractors and trades persons undertaking work at Tarrengower.
- Prepare Job Safety Analysis and assist in OHS Inductions
- Supervise and control prisoner workers in the maintenance area.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar maintenance / facilities role performing routine maintenance infrastructure and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
- Good knowledge and understanding of OH&S.
- Completion of the Prison Officer Pre-service Training – this can be completed on start if not already in place.
