The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Specialist Coordinator Operations to provide a critical role within Adult Parole Board.
About the Business Unit
The Adult Parole Board of Victoria (the Board) is an independent statutory authority, established under the Corrections Act 1986. The Board provides a framework that enables offenders to undertake a step- by-step re-entry into the community. When deciding whether to release an offender on parole, the Board considers the interests of the community, the rights of the victim, the intentions of the sentencing authority and the needs of the offender. In all its decision-making, the Board's paramount consideration is community safety.
The Secretariat comprises departmental staff and provides high-quality operational and administrative support to ensure the Board can complete its functions effectively and efficiently.
About the Role
Some of your duties will include:
- Provide subject matter expertise in special matters, including operations and registry end to end practices.
- Oversee various portfolios that fall under the jurisdiction of the Board, including but not limited to youth transfers, interstate transfers, name change, acknowledgment of gender, parole reforms and victim matters.
- Create and maintain Secretariat operating procedures.
- Collect and organise data to assist with the Board's legislative obligations.
- Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure Secretariat procedures are followed properly and the Board's decisions are recorded accurately and comply with legislation.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Sound knowledge of the Corrections Act 1986, Sentencing Act 1991, and the rules and regulations covering the operations of the Board would be desirable.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills that will enable effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications/requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred, but not mandatory.
