What you will be doing
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Investigations, the Lead Investigator, Financial Services, provides specialist financial expert to support the VEC's electoral compliance operations. The role leads financial aspects of complex investigations, applying forensic analysis and financial interpretation to identify potential breaches and inform regulatory responses. Working closely with investigators, senior leaders and external stakeholders, the position helps strengthen compliance practices and supports evidence-based enforcement outcomes to safeguard electoral integrity.
This role will be responsible for:
- Delivering high level operational financial advice, insight and analysis to guide compliance activities and shape regulatory decisions
- Lead complex financial investigations, from forensic examination and data interpretation, through to preparing evidence and contributing to enforcement outcomes
- Working collaboratively across the organisation and with external stakeholders to strengthen regulatory understanding, improve compliance practices and support strategic priorities
What you will bring to the role
- Strong capability in interpreting legislation, policy and financial information, with experience in applying these in investigative or regulatory environments
- Proven ability to analyse, reconcile and interpret financial data using spreadsheets, databases and case management tools, producing high quality reports and briefs
- An organised approached to planning and delivering work with the ability to identify issues and mange competing priorities
- Well-developed communication and relationship building skills and ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- A strong commitment to self-development and willingness to learn
- Commitment to the VEC's core values
