Position Details
THE ROLE
This role operates within the Youth Forensic Disability Clinical Services team, a challenging and dynamic environment and requires a capacity to understand the complexities of the service delivery environment, and the concerns of stakeholders and the broader community. This role includes the need to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment across residential, custodial and community-based settings. Psychologists are responsible for providing assessments and specialist interventions to youth at risk of or currently involved in the criminal justice system, in the community and at times the prison system.
This role will additionally be reporting and working with the FDSAS team providing clinical support and cognitive assessments in your capacity as a psychological professional.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Working in a responsive manner to engage young people and their families to address high harm behaviours that are placing the young person at risk of or current involvement with the criminal justice system.
- Conduct assessments of client risk and treatment needs, develop and implement treatment plans for young people, identify and develop alternative intervention options and take other appropriate follow-up actions in accordance with the range of accepted options determined by departmental protocols.
- Undertaking Cognitive and adaptive behaviour assessments to determine if someone meets the criteria for intellectual disability according to the Victorian Disability Act 2006.
