Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission. 

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.

VCAT

The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) is a justice service that resolves a wide range of disputes for the Victorian community, including renting, planning, and consumer disputes. VCAT is committed to delivering an accessible service for all Victorians and is transforming our digital products and services to make it faster, easier, and more convenient for people to come to the tribunal.

About the Role

The VCAT Family Violence Practitioner (FVP) provides specialist support, information and referral to community members accessing VCAT and/ or Rental Dispute Resolution Victora (RDRV) who have experienced family violence.

The role of the FVP is to enhance the safety of those experiencing family violence in accordance with the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework (MARAM), in addition to organisational and legislative requirements.  

The FVP is responsible for the identification and management of family violence risk utilising client-centred, trauma informed practice with a focus upon intersectionality, responsive to and inclusive of diverse needs, cultures and backgrounds. The FVP will support staff across the Tribunal by providing specialist training and consultation surrounding family violence best practice.  

VCAT Family Violence operations are based within the VCAT Support Services team, comprising of Koori Support and Accessibility support, with access to professional training and development opportunities. Further, staff have access to comprehensive wellbeing services, including the Employee Assistance Program. 

The FVP will require an on-site presence and the ability to travel to alternative VCAT venue locations as needed.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• sound knowledge of family violence support services and practical expertise in working with those impacted including specialist skills in psychosocial assessment, risk management, provision of support and case coordination
• an understanding of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 and Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework (MARAM)
• strong communication skills in a sensitive environment with a range of people from diverse backgrounds
• a focus on delivering quality service outcomes
• proven ability to work collaboratively for outcomes, through the provision of building trust and rapport with others
• critical thinking and problem solving skills to objectively analyse and evaluate available data, points of view, needs of stakeholders and potential solutions
