ABOUT THE POSITION:
As a People and Culture Advisor, you will provide professional advice and support to managers and employees on a range of employee and industrial relations matters.
This role is accountable for delivering employee relations advisory services and supporting case management. You will help ensure the consistent and accurate application of enterprise agreements, policies and procedures, and support managers to address people matters in a fair, practical and compliant way.
You will also contribute to the delivery of end-to-end employee lifecycle activities, supporting a consistent, compliant and positive employee experience across Museums Victoria.
Some of the key duties include:
- Provide timely, accurate and practical advice to managers and employees on employee relations matters, including performance management, misconduct, grievances and workplace behaviour.
- Interpret and apply the Cultural & Creative Agencies Enterprise Agreement, relevant legislation and organisational policies to support consistent and compliant decision-making.
- Support the management of employee relations matters from initial enquiry through to resolution, including preparing correspondence and maintaining accurate records.
- Assist with workplace investigations, including coordinating interviews, gathering information and preparing documentation and reports under guidance.
- Support the end-to-end employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employment changes and separation processes, ensuring compliance with enterprise agreements, policies and procedures, and contributing to a consistent and positive employee experience.
- Build effective working relationships with managers and stakeholders to support people management capability and consistent application of people practices.
The successful applicant will have:
- A foundational understanding of employee relations or human resources, with a willingness to learn and develop capability across ER and industrial matters.
- The ability to interpret policies and information, exercise sound judgement, and provide clear, practical advice with support where required.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and manage competing priorities in a structured environment.
OTHER INFORMATION
This is a Full time and ongoing opportunity. The salary on offer is VPS Grade 4.1, with a base salary of $97,955 per annum (pro rata), increasing to $100,894 from 1 May 2026, plus 12% superannuation.
The successful applicant will be required to:
- Undergo a National Police Records Check and Working with Children Check and be assessed as suitable (new employees are required to meet this cost)
- Work across multiple Museums Victoria sites, including Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks, Immigration Museum and the Merri-bek Collection Store Facility.
