Position overview
- Employment Type: Fixed Term, part-time (64 hours per fortnight) for 12 months, with opportunities for successful applicants to apply for permanent roles in Mental Health afterward.
- Location: Warrnambool Campus
- Classification: Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 2
- Salary Range: $81,733 - $104.390 pro rata, plus superannuation
About the role
We are excited to offer Registered Nurses a unique 12 month supernumerary opportunity within our Mental Health Services teams, with rotations across both Community and Acute Inpatient settings.
Facilitated by South West Healthcare (SWH), this innovative program supports registered nurses to build a strong foundation in mental health practice while working in a fully supported learning environment. You will gain experience across community based services (including specialist programs) and the Mental Health Acute Inpatient Unit (MHAIU).
Throughout the program, you will develop a broad understanding of mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions, with a strong focus on recovery oriented, trauma-informed, and family inclusive care. You will be supported through dedicated training, education, and clinical supervision designed to build confidence and specialist capability in mental health nursing.

- Registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA (NMBA)
- Demonstrated competence in clinical nursing practice
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels
- Commitment to delivering high quality, patient centred care
- Experience working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of relevant legislation, standards, and contemporary nursing practice
