- Inner north-west metropolitan Melbourne location
- Secure Care Services Units:
- Ascot Vale Unit - Ascot Vale Road, Ascot Vale
- Maribyrnong Unit - Bloomfield Avenue, MaribyrnongEntry level role with full training provided
- CYF-2 - Entry level role with full training provided
- $77,150 - $94,730 (full-time equivalent per annum) plus superannuation

Role Purpose
Empower children and young people to make positive changes in their lives in these entry level casual roles.
Right now, we are recruiting casual staff to work in Secure Care Services across two residential facilities in inner north-west metropolitan Melbourne.
You will be joining a passionate and specialised team who provide high quality care, supervision and security to vulnerable children and young people residing in our Secure Care Service facilities.
As a Direct Care Worker your role would involve empowering children and young people to make positive changes in their lives. You would act as part of a network of care, helping them establish and follow a daily structure, achieve important goals, and develop essential life skills.
The role is varied, challenging, and rewarding. You will be providing support to children and young people who may have experienced significant trauma and display challenging behaviours while we develop a case plan to address the protection needs, reduce the risk of harm, and return the child or young person to the community as soon as possible in a safe and planned way.
Direct Care Workers provide high quality care, supervision, security and safety to children and young people who are residing in a secure care unit.

What is required:
- Competed Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (preferred), or a recognised relevant qualification including Diploma or Degree level in a relevant field.
- It is preferred that all applicants have completed elective units as part of their Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (preferred); or a recognised equivalent. The preferred unit subjects are -
- CHCMHS007 - Work effectively in trauma informed care
- CHCPRT034 - Work with children and young people with complex trauma and attachment needs
- CHCPRT033 - Provide support to children and youth in out of home care
- CHCCCS009 - Facilitate responsible behaviour
- First Aid/CPR or willing to obtain prior to commencement of role
- A current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) card is required and will need to be provided prior to commencement of employment by the applicant. Currency will need to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
