Position Details
THE ROLE
The Residential Tenancies Act Renter Engagement Officer (RTAREO) plays a crucial role in facilitating the safe and compliant execution of safety checks and inspections in rental properties governed by the Residential Tenancy Act 1997 (RTA). This position involves fostering effective communication with tenants, contractors, DFFH Local Housing Offices and Homes Victoria while coordinating activities related to property access for contractors to undertake safety checks.
This role prioritises exceptional customer service, strong communication and stakeholder management skills, the ability to plan, organise and prioritise workloads, alongside a commitment to the regular and consistent delivery of RTA compliance safety checks.
Achieving success in this position requires the establishment and maintenance of strong connections with public housing renters, Local Housing Offices across the operational Division, Homes Victoria and RTA contractors. Moreover, it necessitates adherence to rigorous health and safety standards and the proactive adoption of enhancements based on feedback from stakeholders.
This role will work closely with renters, local support services, Homes Victoria's Compliance & Safety team, Local Housing Offices, Homes Victoria Contract Managers, and contractors for the successful implementation of the program. The role will be expected to work across the relevant Division to attend to RTA needs of renters.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Contribute to the full life-cycle of the RTA project to meet departmental objectives including:
- Undertaking research, analysis and implementation of the project based on defined outcomes and outputs.
- Managing the project and related sub-projects and being accountable for the successful delivery and completion of the project within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
