Position Details
THE ROLE
The Housing Operational Policy team is responsible for the development and review of operational housing policy and the provision of subject matter expertise and advice to support the effective delivery of housing services. The team works closely with relevant areas across Homes Victoria, the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and other Victorian departments and jurisdictional colleagues to create comprehensive and well thought out policy positions.
The Principal Policy Officer will lead and deliver operational policy and guidelines advice to support the delivery of critical Government, Homes Victoria and departmental priorities. This includes the redevelopment of public housing towers and relocation of renters; sustaining tenancies and supporting safer communities in public housing; and strengthening allocations policy. The role must have capacity to work with autonomously, lead engagement with others and deliver on commitments on a timely basis.
The role plays a critical part in ensuring adherence to best practices, regulatory standards, and departmental goals, enhancing service delivery effectiveness, and facilitating continuous improvement efforts across public housing operations. The role will also support the comprehensive development and review of operational guidelines for public housing to align with policy settings. The Principal Policy Officer will undertake analysis, develop well research / robust policy positions, discussion papers and advice, and engage strategically with key stakeholders to improve social and affordable housing outcomes for Victorians.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
