ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Visitor Engagement Visitor Services role is a customer-facing, sales-based position responsible for delivering exceptional first impressions and ensuring a welcoming, seamless experience for all visitors to the Immigration Museum. This role supports ticketing operations, including sales and upselling of products and tours, scanning pre-purchased tickets, and greeting a diverse range of visitors including members, education groups, and special interest groups.
The position plays a key role in orienting and ushering visitors throughout their museum journey, providing information and assistance as needed. With a proactive and engaging approach, the Visitor Services Officer ensures all visitors feel welcomed, supported, and connected to their experience.
Some of the key duties include:
- Undertake ticketing operations, including sales, upselling of products and tours, troubleshooting, and scanning pre-purchased tickets
- Greet and welcome members, education groups, special interest groups, general visitors, and staff, providing a professional and friendly first point of contact
- Orient and usher education groups and visitors, ensuring they are well-informed and supported throughout their visit
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence, proactively anticipating visitor needs and providing assistance
- Engage with visitors to enhance their experience, including answering questions and providing directions and information about exhibits, events, tours, and facilities
- Deliver a high level of customer service, ensuring all visitors feel valued and supported
- Work collaboratively with Museum Ambassadors to identify and support accessibility needs
- Adhere to uniform, brand, and organisational values requirements
- Undertake additional tasks as directed by the Supervisor or Manager
- Comply with Museums Victoria policies, procedures, and relevant legislation
The successful applicant will have:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage with a diverse range of visitors
- A friendly, welcoming, and proactive approach to customer service
- The ability to anticipate and respond effectively to visitor needs
- Attention to detail, particularly in ticketing processes and visitor management
- Flexibility and willingness to support a variety of visitor services tasks
- A passion for delivering positive and memorable visitor experiences
Desirable:
- Experience in customer service, hospitality, or front-of-house roles
OTHER INFORMATION
This is an irregular part-time (0.39 FTE), ongoing position based at Scienceworks. The salary on offer is a VPS2.1 Base salary of $62,104 per annum (pro rata) plus 12% superannuation.
The successful applicant is required to undergo a National Police Records Check and Working with Children Check and be assessed as suitable (new employees are required to meet this cost).
