Expressions of Interest are sought for a Technical Field Specialist (VPS 5) from 22 June 2026 until 23 July 2026.
Enterprise Technology Services is an internal technology group responsible for planning, delivering, and maintaining the technology systems and services that support the department's day to day operations. The group works closely with business units across the department to understand their needs and ensure they have access to reliable, fit-for-purpose technology solutions. This includes setting the department's long-term technology direction, identifying and adopting new and emerging technologies that improve how the department operates, designing and planning technology systems, managing technology projects from inception to completion, supporting the applications and tools staff rely on, and overseeing the financial management of technology investments.
The Technical Field Specialist will join the Workplace Technology team. This role manages and operates one or more ICT customer service or service desk functions either on site or at other locations through multiple channels including human, digital, self-service and automation.
About the role
As a Technical Field Specialist, you will be act as a key liaison contact between the organisation and users in reporting and resolving ICT issues, requesting information, access, or other technology services, systems or products. You will work closely with DJCS operational sites, corporate ICT teams and service providers to support remediation of ICT services and systems, ensuring alignment with DJCS standards.
Accountabilities include:
- Co-ordinate and deliver support, modification and maintenance of ICT services and systems to users in collaboration with stakeholders, designers, architects, analysts and testers using agile methodologies at field locations.
- Perform location-based IT incident and request queue management, user support and training utilising the department standards, methods and tools and consistent with DJCS solution and technical architectures.
- Maintain and monitor Service Level Targets, workflows, escalation pathways and support models to ensure consistent, transparent and effective service outcomes.
- Develop and maintain best practice standard operating procedures for ICT location-based customer centric services and assets to produce continuous improvement opportunities and transform the ICT landscape.
- Provide subject matter advice in ICT services, to the cross-functional, field location-based teams, ensuring departmental compliance and benefits realisation.
- Maintain a continuous service improvement backlog to ensure ICT systems and services are extensible, resilient and reliable, to meet the department's policies and standards.
- Provide technical expertise and deliver IT processes including issue and problem management, incident resolution, automation, testing and agile story/task delivery.
About you:
- Demonstrated experience in installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining end user compute (desktop) computing applications and services, and providing high quality end user support including computers, telecommunication devices, printers, video conferencing, applications and secure authentication.
- Proven ability to analyse, prioritise and resolve complex ICT incidents and service issues, acting as an escalation point and coordinating resolution across internal teams and external providers with a strong customer focus.
- Demonstrated experience within a large ICT environment, of delivering location-based ICT (field) services practice, leading to successful ICT improvement or transformation creating realised business value.
